Choose-Your-Own Grief Adventure

Choose Your Own Grief Adventure est un jeu textuel mettant en scène un.e petit.e goblin.e et ses amis dans leur forêt. Notre héros.ïne va se retrouver confronté.e à la perte de ses pouvoirs magiques, et le joueur va décider comment gérer ce deuil:

Soit en cherchant l'aide de ses proches, ou en s'opposant à eux. 

L’équipe s'est inspirée des cinq étapes du deuil, et des vieux "livres dont vous êtes le héros".

L'objectif était d'avoir l'occasion de créer un jeu narratif avec de multiples choix et plusieurs fins possibles, et d'offrir au joueur une occasion d'explorer une variété d'émotions.

Joelle s'est servie de Twine pour coder les mécaniques.

Elle c'est également chargée de l'écriture du texte, c'était son challenge pour la game jam !

Pour l'art, Alicia s'est inspirée des thèmes populaires Cottagecore et Goblincore et a dessiné les illustrations dans photoshop avec une tablette graphique.

Choose Your Own Grief Adventure is a text-based game about a little goblin and their friends in their forest. Our hero will be confronted with the loss of their magical powers, and the player will decide how to deal with this grief: Either by seeking help from loved ones, or by lashing out.

We were inspired by the five stages of grief, and the old "Choose your own adventure" novels. The goal was to have the opportunity to create a narrative game with multiple choices and possible endings, and to offer the player an opportunity to explore a variety of emotions.

Joelle used Twine to code the mechanics.

She also wrote the text, it was her challenge for the game jam! 

For the art, Alicia was inspired by the popular Cottagecore and Goblincore themes and drew the illustrations in photoshop with a graphics tablet.
